The Office Experiment
The Office Experiment — Corporate Simulator
Lead a chaotic tech team through deadlines, budget pressure, and burnout in this RetroOS-styled management game.
About the Game
You are the office manager of a growing tech company. Your mission: deliver the quarterly Goal within 90 days while keeping your team productive, your budget positive, and your employees from burning out.
Built with a custom TypeScript Canvas 2D engine, the game features:
- 20 AI-driven NPC employees with individual personalities and autonomous behavior
- Real-time office simulation with procedurally generated pixel art
- RetroOS aesthetic — Windows 95-style UI, custom cursors, and retro fonts
- Strategic decision-making — random events that test your management skills
Core Mechanics
- Budget Management: Pay salaries, bonuses, and team activities
- Burnout System: Keep stress levels under control or face team collapse
- Three Power Moves:
- 💰 Bonus — boost morale and productivity ($7,000)
- 🎉 Team Party — reduce burnout with celebration ($1,200)
- 🔥 Crunch Mode — triple productivity but increase stress (free but risky)
- Decision Events: Random scenarios with trade-offs and consequences
Game Balance
- Goal Target: 310 progress points
- Starting Budget: $40,000
- Deadline: 90 days (2 real seconds per game-day)
- Win Condition: Complete Goal before running out of money or burning out your team
Passive play usually misses the deadline. Reckless crunch burns out the team. Overspending on morale can bankrupt the company. Strategic management is the key to victory.
